必克BBC新闻:哈格尔宣布辞职 伊朗核谈判延期7个月

The US secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel is stepping down after less than 2 years in the job. Sources say his resignation is by mutual agreement with president Obama. Janell Brian reports from Washington.

President Obama had warm praised that Chuck Hagel a personal friend for many years. He extolled Mr. Hagel’s relationship with the American troops who knew that he is a Vietnam War veteran. He like then had experienced the dirt and mud of combat but not mentioned what’s the reason for Mr. Hagel’s resignation. Insiders say he failed to penetrate the president’s tight knit foreign policy team and was a doubt with the White House on how to tackle the growing threats from Islamic State and the civil war in Syria.

The US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that real and substantial progress has been made in the latest talks over Iran’s nuclear program, but the significant points of disagreement remained. Mr. Kerry spoke, after today’s self-posed deadline for a deal was extended for 7 months. Jamie Bone reports from Vienna.

All sides here in Vienna wanted a deal. None of them were prepared to walk away from a negotiation they expected was difficult. The reason is that the alternative might in the end turn out to be a war. Israel has threatened many times to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities. The US Secretary of State John Kerry, speaking just before he left the airport, was highly positive about the progress that has been made. He said they will all be fools to give up now without an agreement to meet again and keep talking.

Nigeria’s highest Islamic authority has bitterly criticized the country’s military, accusing soldiers of running away from attacks by the Islamist group Bokha Haram. The body which is headed by the Saint of Saocrotol said Nigerian sovereignty was under threat from the Jihadists. Our Nigeria correspondent Will Rose reports from Negus.

In a strongly worded letter, the organization representing Nigeria’s Muslim community condemned what he called the heinous attacks by Bokha Haram and called on the government to protect civilians. The Jammatu Nasro Islam or JNI, accused soldiers of running away from attacks, abandoning their weapons to the insurgents and later returning to terrorized population with road blockers and house searches. There had been numerous reports on solders’ fleeing rather than fighting Bokha Haram.

The Russian president Vladmir Putin has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Georgia’s breakaway region of Napazia which has sparked angry reaction from Georgia. The deal will reportedly see Russia invest 260 million dollars in Napazia by the end of 2017 and create joint Russian and Napazin military forces. Georgia’s foreign minister denounced the move as a step towards the annexation of Napazia by Russia. The signing of the deal comes days after tens of thousands of Georgians took part in a rally against the planned agreement.

The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that women are equal to men. Mr. Erdogan told a women’s conference in Istanbul that Islam defined women as mothers. Something he said feminists did not accept.

You can not claim that men and women are equal as their natures are different. In the work place, you can not treat a man and a pregnant woman in the same way. You can not make a mother who has to breastfeed her child equal to a man. You can not make women do everything men do like the communist regimes did. This is against her delicate nature.

The authorities in the US state of Missouri are preparing to announce whether a white police officer who shot dead an unarmed black teenager will be indited. A lawyer for the teenager’s family has confirmed that the ground jury considering the case has reached a verdict. The shooting of Michael Brown in the Saint Louise suburb of Fugusin in the August sparked days of violent clashes. A 30-day state of emergency was declared last week throughout of Missouri ahead of the announcement.

In Libya, an unidentified jet has carried out 2 air strikes on the only the airport still serving the capital, Tripoli. Libyan television said fights have now resumed after being redirected or canceled. From Tripoli, Warnagy Wald reports.

Airport authorities and witnesses said 2 air strikes hit Tripoli’s Matigar airbase, closed to the runway being used for the commercial flights. There have been no reports on casualties. For weeks, the Libyan army and other forces loyal to them have been threatening to bomb M airbase in the capital where the rivals are based. No one has officially claimed responsibility for the air strikes. A commander of the Libyan Donemalicia forces who controlled the capital, described the air strikes as a proactive move and blamed it on the forces under the command of the retired general, Halif Hafter who sits in eastern Libya.
